Safety Precautions

Deborah S. Ruddell D.D.S., P.A. Inc.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

At Deborah S. Ruddell D.D.S., P.A. Inc, our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agency’s recommendations.

Below Is a List of the Preventative Procedures We Have Recently Implemented

  1. Pre-appointment screening call: Our office will be communicating with you beforehand to ask screening questions concerning your exposure to COVID 19 and updating medical history. So that we can see you at your reserved time, please call our office back to answer pre-screening questions and help avoid delays for patients following your appt.
  2. Only the patient will be permitted to enter the office unless otherwise arranged. We ask that patients be driven to the front of our office and be picked up after the appointment. We ask that the person picking the patient up wait in or near their car. We will make every attempt to make the wait minimal.
  3. Patients’ temperature will be taken at the front door before entering the office and hand sanitizer will be provided. We ask that patients wear a mask to the office and when exiting the office. If you do not have one, a mask will be provided at the door.
  4. Personal items: We will ask our patients to leave all personal items at home that are not necessary to bring to your appointment.
  5. Room disinfection: All rooms will be thoroughly disinfected with strong antiviral and antibacterial agents before and after patient visits. All surfaces will be sprayed and wiped. All rooms will be fogged to eliminate airborne organisms between patients.
  6. Pre-procedural rinse: Patients will be asked to rinse with a pre-procedural anti-viral rinse of hydrogen peroxide before any procedure.
  7. Personal protective equipment: All team members will wear Level 3 Mask over an N95 or KN95 personal protective equipment required depending on their position. For example, the team members at the front office only need to wear masks, but the clinical staff will wear masks, gloves, eye protection, face shields, head covers and gowns. Gowns are changed for each patient, along with all disposables. All other items will be disinfected.
  8. Eliminating aerosols: Many dental procedures produce aerosols which can spread oral bacteria and viruses into the air. In order to minimize this aerosol an Isolite, which we have been using for many years, will be used on all dental and hygiene procedures where aerosols are produced. All rooms are fogged in between patients to destroy any airborne viruses and bacteria prior to next patient being seated.
